Why Do Mice Keep Coming Back Even After I Seal the Holes?

Hey everyone,

I thought I’d finally solved my mouse problem after spending an entire weekend sealing every gap I could find around my garage and basement.

I used steel wool, caulk, and expanding foam where appropriate, and for about a week everything seemed quiet. Then I started finding fresh droppings again, and last night I even heard scratching behind the wall.

Now I’m wondering if I missed another entry point, or if the mice were already inside before I sealed everything up.

Has anyone else dealt with this?

  • Did sealing holes alone solve your problem?
  • How did you find the entry point you missed?
  • Could mice already living inside keep the problem going?
  • What finally stopped them from coming back?

I’d really appreciate hearing what worked for others because I’m starting to feel like I’m chasing my tail.
