Hi everyone!
I’ve got a crew of mice in my garage that laugh at peanut butter. They’ll nibble around it, steal the bait, and leave the trap unsprung. I’ve tried everything: cheese, birdseed, even bacon grease. Nada. Are these rodents evolving, or am I just cursed? What bait finally worked for your peanut butter-snubbing mice? I’m leaning toward sweet stuff like chocolate or dried fruit, but I’ve heard glue traps with vanilla extract can trick them. Share your weirdest winning baits and trap setups below!
Switched to Nutella smeared on a snap trap. Works like a charm! The sugar + hazelnut drives them wild. Pro tip: Freeze it so it doesn’t drip. Anyone else use chocolate?
Peanut butter fails? Try sunflower seeds! Mice in my shed couldn’t resist. I glue them to the trigger for a stubborn steal-proof setup. @SafePawsOnly does Nutella attract ants too?
Avoid glue traps, they’re cruel and risky for pets. Use oatmeal + peanut oil in a live trap. Relocate the little guys far away. @IHeartMice how do you ‘glue’ seeds without chemicals?
Back in my day, we used dried apricots. Sticky, sweet, and they can’t grab it and run. @SafePawsOnly freezing Nutella is genius, stealing that hack!
Mice love carbs! Try a tiny piece of marshmallow or jellybean. The key is high scent + can’t steal it. @MousePatrol peanut oil alone worked? No bait?
Upgrade your trap game! Use a multi-catch trap with vanilla extract on a cotton ball. They’re drawn to the smell and can’t escape. @SkepticalSue apricots for the win, never thought of that!
Peppermint oil repels, BUT mix it with a dab of cookie butter? They’re confused and curious. Caught 3 last week! @purrfect_home marshmallows melted in my garage heat, messy fail.
@MousePatrol I use a tiny bit of honey as natural glue! @DryDogDude
cookie butter + mint is next-level psychological warfare. Trying tonight!
@MousePatrol Yeah, just a drop of peanut oil on the trigger plate. They lick it and click. @ScienceBuffBen vanilla extract on cotton is smart, low mess!
@IHeartMice Ants haven’t been an issue yet, but I wipe the trap edges with vinegar. @SkepticalSue apricots are underrated, sweet and chewy!
