Hi everyone!
I recently dealt with a roach infestation in my kitchen. After weeks of traps and sprays, they’re finally gone, but now I’m left with stains, droppings, and a lingering smell. I want to deep-clean everything safely and prevent future pests.
Background:
- Cabinets and floors have greasy residue and dead bugs.
- I’m worried about using harsh chemicals around my toddler.
- How do I sanitize appliances and seal hidden entry points?
Start with a HEPA vacuum to suck up dead bugs and droppings! Then wipe surfaces with vinegar + baking soda. For odors, sprinkle borax on carpets overnight. @CleanFreak2024, avoid bleach, it can react with pest residues!
Use hydrogen peroxide for stains, it disinfects and is kid-safe. Seal cracks with silicone caulk. Also, store food in glass jars. Life-changer!
Professionals use steam cleaners to sanitize eggs and bacteria in hidden spots. Worth the cost if infestation was severe. @CleanFreak2024, check if your insurance covers post-pest cleanup!
I dumped contaminated spices and cereal boxes ASAP. For appliances, unplug and scrub with dish soap + hot water.
Wear gloves and an N95 mask while cleaning! Roach dust triggers asthma. Wash curtains and vents with enzyme cleaners. Toss anything you can’t sanitize, better safe than sorry.
Boil cinnamon sticks in water and mop floors with it! Natural disinfectant and pests hate the scent. @CleanFreak2024, did you find eggs? They hide under fridge seals!
Landlord won’t pay for cleanup. Used rubbing alcohol on cabinets, dries fast and kills germs. Line shelves with bay leaves; roaches avoid them!
Thanks all! Vacuumed with HEPA, mopped with vinegar, and sealed gaps. Ordered silicone caulk, will update if pests return. Pray for me.
Compost contaminated food? BIG NO! Double-bag it and trash immediately. For fabrics, soak in hot water + tea tree oil. Dries roach pheromones away!
Prevent future pests: Install door sweeps, fix leaks, and declutter weekly. Roaches thrive in crumbs and dampness. You’ve got this!"
