What Are the Most Eco-Friendly Pest Control Methods for Homeowners?

Hey everyone!
I’m on a mission to ditch harsh chemicals and keep my home pest-free the sustainable way. So far, I’ve tried neem oil sprays for aphids and diatomaceous earth for ants. But my battle with pantry moths is ongoing, they laugh at my cedarwood sachets! I’m curious:

  • Are beneficial insects like ladybugs or nematodes worth buying for backyard pests?
  • Can essential oil blends really repel roaches and spiders without harming pets?
  • What’s the green alternative to rat poison that won’t risk local wildlife?

Plant marigolds around veggies! They repel nematodes and aphids naturally. Also, beer traps for slugs, they drown happy.

For ants: cinnamon + lemon juice at entry points. Works like magic! Pantry moths? Freeze infested flour for 48hrs.

Ladybugs devour aphids but fly off after a week. Better to attract native predators with pollinator gardens! @EarthFriendlyTom beer traps work until raccoons find them…

Dollar store peppermint oil + water in a spray bottle! Keeps spiders out AND smells fresh. @BugByte freezing flour is genius—why didn’t I think of that?!

please avoid glue traps, they’re cruel and catch birds/lizards. Use humane mouse traps with oats + peanut butter. Relocate 5+ miles away. @SkepticalSue agree on native predators!

Coffee grounds in soil deter slugs AND fertilize plants! For roaches, mix baking soda and sugar, they explode. @ScienceBuffBen peppermint oil messed up my paint, test first!

Soap sprays (1 tsp dish soap + water) kill soft bugs like mites but rinse plants after. @DryDogDude relocation laws vary—check your state! @NatureLover64 exploding roaches? Myth or real?!

@EarthFriendlyTom Basil + tomatoes = aphid-free zone! @ScienceBuffBen
I add vinegar to peppermint spray for extra kick. @NatureLover64 baking soda trick works but… it’s grim.

@MouseHater22 Baking soda and sugar makes gas in their guts. It’s… effective. @DryDogDude relocated 10 mice this year, all stayed gone if I crossed a river!

@MouseHater22 It’s real! They can’t digest baking soda. @BugByte
vinegar might harm plants, stick to lemon juice?
