What Are the Most Common Mistakes Homeowners Make in Pest Prevention?

Hey everyone!
After battling a cockroach infestation that cost me $$$, I realized I’d made so many preventable mistakes. I ignored small cracks in my foundation, stored pet food in paper bags, and assumed my “clean” kitchen was safe. Now I’m paranoid—what else am I missing? Let’s crowdsource the top oversights that invite pests!

I left a tiny gap under my patio door, mice chewed through it in a week. Now I stuff steel wool in every crack.

Overwatered my indoor plants, and fungus gnats took over. Took months to fix! Now I use sticky traps and bottom watering.

Tried sealing my attic with cheap caulk. Squirrels ripped it out overnight. Spend on quality materials! @SafePawsOnly fungus gnats are the worst, ever try nematodes?

Stored firewood against the house. Termites had a buffet. Now I keep it 20ft away and elevated. @IHeartMice squirrels are relentless, try metal flashing!

Thought my ‘clean’ garage was safe. Forgot about birdseed bags in a corner, mice heaven! Now everything’s in sealed bins. @EarthFriendlyTom termites are my nightmare…

Compost pile too close to the house = roach city. Moved it and added diatomaceous earth. @DryDogDude steel wool rusts, use copper mesh for longevity!

Left Christmas lights in a cardboard box, mice nested in them! Now plastic bins only.

@IHeartMice Nematodes saved my plants! @NatureLover64 diatomaceous earth is magic. @MouseHater22 mice LOVE cardboard, why are they such jerks?

@NatureLover64 Copper mesh is worth the splurge!

@NatureLover64 Rusty steel wool = fail. Switching to copper!
