Hey everyone,
We’re at the point where it feels like German roaches are winning. We see them during the day, in the kitchen, bathroom, even inside drawers. Traps helped for maybe a week, sprays barely slow them down, and foggers seem to do nothing long-term.
I’m not looking for “perfect,” just the fastest solution that actually works — even if it’s aggressive.
A few things I’m trying to figure out:
-
What actually kills German roaches quickly, not just the ones you see?
-
Is DIY still realistic at this stage, or is it already pro-only territory?
-
What mistakes make infestations drag on longer than necessary?
Any real-world advice is welcome. I’m exhausted.
Daytime sightings usually mean the population is already big. Speed-wise, bait gels beat sprays every time.
Fastest? Professional treatment, no contest. DIY works, but it’s slower and requires discipline.
Sprays just scatter them. I learned that the hard way and made it worse.
@OverrunTenant If you’re still using foggers, stop. They don’t reach where German roaches actually live.
What worked for me was bait + growth regulator. Took weeks, but numbers dropped fast after the first few days.
Seal food, wipe grease nightly, and don’t leave water sources. Speed depends a lot on sanitation.
@ApartmentFixer Agree on pros being fastest, especially in shared buildings where neighbors might be the source.
If you see babies, you need something that affects reproduction. Killing adults alone won’t end it.
I went DIY because of cost. Bait stations everywhere + patience. It wasn’t instant, but it worked.
