Hey everyone,
Over the last week or so, I’ve started noticing random bugs appearing in different parts of my house, and it’s driving me crazy because I can’t figure out where they’re coming from.
So far I’ve found them:
The weird thing is they don’t all seem to show up in the same place, and I haven’t been able to identify exactly what they are yet.
I’m wondering if anyone else has experienced something similar.
-
Did the bugs suddenly appear out of nowhere?
-
How did you figure out what they were?
-
Did it turn out to be a seasonal issue or an actual infestation?
-
What was the first thing you checked?
I’d appreciate any advice before I start trying random treatments.
The first thing I’d do is try to identify the bug. Different insects need completely different approaches.
I had something similar last fall. They seemed to appear overnight, but they were actually coming in around a window frame.
Do they all look the same? If they’re different kinds of bugs, there might be more than one issue going on.
@GreenhouseGina Good point. I thought I had one infestation, but it ended up being ants in one room and beetles near the windows.
Seasonal changes can bring all kinds of insects indoors, especially after heavy rain or sudden temperature changes.
I started finding random bugs after moving into an older house. Sealing gaps around doors and windows helped a lot.
@HiddenHollow Can you post a photo? Identifying the bug is usually half the battle.
Don’t forget to check places like the pantry, under sinks, and around pet food. Those were the first places I inspected.
I put a few sticky monitors around the house for a week. It helped me figure out which room they were actually coming from.
Before using sprays, I’d spend some time figuring out where they’re entering. Once I found the source, solving the problem was much easier.
