Hey everyone!
After my golden retriever Scout had an allergic reaction to a popular flea collar, I embarked on a 60-day natural flea elimination experiment. We tried:
- Diatomaceous Earth (food grade) - Reduced fleas by 50% but caused dry nose
- Apple Cider Vinegar Rinse (1:2 ratio) - Killed live fleas but eggs survived
- Nematode Yard Treatment - Cut infestation by 70% until heavy rain
Now facing a resurgence, I need proven solutions that:
Don’t trigger skin allergies
Break the flea life cycle
Are safe for kitten siblings
Used rosemary+lavender shampoo for 8 months! Key is adding neem oil to collar pads. @VetEmily Does neem interfere with heartworm meds?
@HolisticPaws Neem inhibits ivermectin absorption. Safer alternative: cedar oil spray between shoulder blades. Remember, natural ≠ risk-free. Always patch test!
Diatomaceous earth damaged my Aussie’s lungs! Vet said particles <5μm get inhaled. Switched to saltwater dips, 1 cup sea salt per gallon works better.
Bought $80 ultrasonic tag, total scam. Fleas party on! Now using lemon eucalyptus oil diluted in coconut oil. Works but needs daily reapplication. Exhausting!
Borax powder on carpets. Leave 24hrs then vacuum. Kills larvae without chemicals. @FarmDogMom Does saltwater cause coat damage long-term?
Terrified, My 4mo kitten licked Scout’s herbal collar. ER vet said pennyroyal oil is toxic to cats! Check all ingredients if multi-pet home.
Game-changer info! Switching to cedar oil today. For tapeworm concern, will pumpkin seeds work as natural dewormer while we fight fleas?
Saltwater made coat dull until I added kelp supplements. Now shiny & flea-free! Borax tip worked on couch fleas too, thanks!
Flea comb + soapy water is underrated! Comb 2x daily, dip in dawn dish soap. Killed 93 fleas Week 1, now down to 3/day. Labor-intensive but non-toxic.
Pumpkin seeds help expel worms but don’t kill parasites. For tapeworms, praziquantel is essential, some brands offer chemical-free versions. Check with your vet!
