Hi everyone,
I’m honestly at my breaking point. For weeks now I’ve been hearing scratching, running, and thumping in the walls and ceiling, mostly at night. I’ve tried traps, bait stations, sealing what I thought were entry points — nothing seems to stop it.
Some nights it’s so loud I can’t sleep, and during the day I’m just stressed waiting for it to start again. I don’t even see them, just hear them constantly. Has anyone actually beaten this kind of problem? What finally made a difference for you?
If you’re hearing them in the ceiling, they’re probably nesting up there. Traps alone usually won’t solve that.
Been there. The noise messes with your head more than anything else.
Sealing helps, but only after you’re sure they’re out. Otherwise you just trap them inside and it gets worse.
@CeilingSleepless Are you in a house or apartment? That changes how hard this is to fully solve.
We thought ours were gone, then realized they were using the plumbing chases. Sound travels like crazy through walls.
Snap traps worked for us, but only once we figured out their main travel path. Random placement didn’t do much.
Poison backfired big time. Ended up with smells in the wall weeks later. Never again.
This is one of those cases where exclusion matters more than killing. If they can get in, they’ll keep coming.
@BeenBurned Same experience here. After that, we focused on sealing exterior gaps instead of throwing more bait at it.
It is beatable, but it usually takes a combo of patience, sealing, and sometimes outside help. You’re not crazy, this stuff is brutal.
