Hi everyone,
I recently started noticing some small dark beetles around my room and after looking them up, I’m pretty sure they’re larder beetles. I’ve seen a few near the baseboards and even one or two in my closet.
The thing is, I don’t keep food in my room, so I’m confused about what’s attracting them. I’ve already cleaned the area, but they keep showing up here and there.
For anyone who’s dealt with larder beetles before, what actually worked to get rid of them? Is it just about cleaning more, or is there usually a hidden source I need to find?
There’s almost always a hidden food source somewhere.
Check closets, storage boxes, or anything organic like wool or pet items.
They can also be attracted to dead insects or even something inside walls.
@DIYDude56 I found mine in an old storage bin I forgot about.
Vacuuming thoroughly around edges and corners helps reduce them.
I had them coming from a bag of pet treats once.
Don’t forget to check under furniture and behind shelves.
@GarageFox82 Same here, it was something hidden that I didn’t expect.
Once you remove the source, they usually disappear pretty quickly.
It’s more about finding the cause than just killing the ones you see.
