Hi folks,
looking for some perspective here. We just moved into what looked like a spotless, well-maintained house, but within the first few weeks we’ve noticed multiple pest issues popping up — ants in the kitchen, random beetles in a bedroom, and what might be mouse droppings in the garage.
It’s overwhelming because I don’t even know where to start. Do you prioritize the most active problem, the most damaging one, or the one that could spread fastest? Trying to avoid panic-buying ten different products and making things worse.
I’d start with anything structural or health-related first — rodents before insects, usually.
Don’t assume they’re all separate problems. Sometimes one issue creates conditions for the others.
Ants are annoying, but mice can turn into a nightmare fast if ignored too long.
When we moved in, a professional inspection helped us rank problems by urgency instead of guessing.
“Clean” doesn’t mean pest-free. Empty houses can actually attract pests before move-in.
@BeenBurnedBefore 100% agree. Our moisture issue caused bugs and rodents.
Sealing gaps and entry points buys you time no matter what pest it is.
@FirstThingsFirst That makes sense. I was tempted to just go after whatever I see most.
Trying to solve everything at once usually backfires. Pick one issue, solve it properly, then move on.
@SlowAndSteady Sealing plus monitoring was what finally made our treatments stick long-term.
