Mouse Traps: Ultimate USA Rat Trap Brand Comparison Chart

Hello everyone! :mouse:

I’m starting this thread to discuss and compare some of the top rat trap brands available in the USA. Given the increasing number of issues with rodents in urban areas, I think it’s important to have a clear understanding of what products work best.

Over the years, I’ve tried various traps, from traditional snap traps to more modern electric ones. There are so many options out there, and each brand claims to be the most effective. However, the effectiveness can vary widely based on the type of trap, the bait used, and even the placement.

I’ve had great luck with Victor traps! They’re reliable and easy to set up. What about you all?

I agree, @SafePawsOnly! Victor traps have some of the best reviews. However, I’ve had a few issues with them being a bit sensitive and going off with no rat around. Anyone else face that?

I had that problem too! I switched to the Tomcat brand, and they work like a charm without false triggers. Plus, they’re a bit cheaper!

I personally love the electric traps. They’re quick and don’t require touching the rat at all. Anyone else tried them?

Electric traps can be pricey upfront, but they save on cleanup. I’ve found that traditional wooden traps can be just as effective if baited correctly.

True, but I think it depends on how infested your area is. If it’s serious, you might want to go with electric traps for efficiency.

I’ve noticed that some of the more affordable traps don’t last as long, but they do catch just as many rats. Is it worth spending extra for durability?

In my experience, yes! The more expensive traps tend to have better design and warranty options. After a few cheap ones breaking, I’d rather invest upfront.

Exactly! I had a cheap trap break after just a few uses, so now I go for quality. Victor’s higher-end model has lasted me for years!

I had a rat infestation last winter and tried a variety of traps. The most effective for me were the snap traps with peanut butter. It was messy, but it worked!

Peanut butter is a classic! I’ve also had success with Nutella, believe it or not. It seems to attract them better than other bait.

Great tip, @MouseHater22! I’ll have to try that next time.
