Hey everyone,
I recently had a pest control treatment done in one of the rooms in my house, and now I’m wondering how soon it’s actually safe to go back in. The technician gave some general instructions, but I still feel a bit unsure about lingering chemicals or fumes.
There’s a slight smell still, and I’m not sure if that’s normal or if I should wait longer before using the room again. I also have concerns about things like ventilation, pets, and how long residues might last on surfaces.
For those who’ve been through this before, how long did you wait before re-entering or using the room normally?
I usually wait at least a few hours and make sure the room is well ventilated before going back in.
It depends on what kind of treatment was used. Some require longer wait times than others.
Opening windows and running a fan helped clear the smell faster for me.
@FreshAirNolan same here. Airflow makes a huge difference.
If you have pets, I’d be extra cautious and give it more time.
I always wipe down surfaces like desks or counters before using the room again.
The smell can linger a bit even when it’s technically safe, which can be confusing.
@IndoorCareZoe I do the same, especially in rooms where I spend a lot of time.
Following the technician’s instructions is usually the safest approach.
If you’re unsure, waiting a little longer doesn’t hurt. Better safe than sorry.
