Invisible bugs biting me at home — am I losing my mind?

Hi all,

I’m honestly not sure how to explain this without sounding a bit crazy. For the past couple of weeks, I’ve been feeling random bites and crawling sensations at home, mostly at night. The weird part is I can’t actually see anything — no bugs on the bed, no obvious marks beyond small itchy spots.

I’ve checked sheets, vacuumed, washed everything, and even inspected the mattress seams. Nothing. No clear signs of bed bugs, fleas, or anything else I recognize. It’s starting to mess with my sleep, and I’m not sure if I’m missing something obvious or overthinking it.

Has anyone dealt with something similar? What should I be looking for next?

You’re definitely not alone. I went through something similar last year and thought I was imagining it at first.

Not seeing bugs doesn’t mean they aren’t there. Some pests are tiny or only active briefly.

I had reactions that felt like bites, but it turned out to be a skin sensitivity triggered by detergent changes.

@QuietApartment Do the bites show up in clusters or just random spots? That detail helped me narrow things down.

Stress can make the sensations feel way worse, especially when you’re already worried about bugs.

Have you checked baseboards and couch seams? I missed those areas for weeks before finding anything.

I wouldn’t panic yet. Sometimes it’s environmental — dry air, mites, or even fabric fibers irritating skin.

@BugSensei That’s true. I never saw anything either, but something was definitely causing reactions.

Change one variable at a time so you don’t drive yourself nuts.

Whatever it ends up being, you’re not crazy. A lot of people go through this before getting clear answers.
