Hi all,
I’m starting to lose my mind a bit. I keep seeing moths pop up in different rooms, mostly at night, and no matter how many I get rid of, more seem to appear a day or two later.
That makes me think there’s a nest or breeding spot somewhere in the house, but I have no idea where to look. Closets, kitchen, attic — everything feels possible at this point. If you’ve dealt with this before, where did you eventually find the source?
Any tips on narrowing it down would be hugely appreciated.
Most of the time it’s closets or stored fabrics. Even stuff you haven’t touched in months.
Don’t rule out the pantry. I thought mine were clothes moths and turned out they were coming from old grains.
If you see them mostly at night, pay attention to where they gather. That usually points closer to the source.
I found larvae behind a dresser that hadn’t been moved in years. Dark, undisturbed spots are prime real estate for them.
@HomeSleeves Are they small and beige or bigger and darker? That detail actually helps narrow where to search.
Wash or freeze anything suspect. I learned the hard way that “clean-looking” clothes can still be a problem.
Seconding the pantry idea. Even sealed packages can get compromised without you noticing.
If your place is older, check vents and baseboards too. Moths can come from places you’d never think to inspect.
@KitchenCorner Same here, bird seed in a storage bin was the culprit. Took weeks to figure out.
Once you remove the source, the sightings usually drop fast. Until then, it just feels endless.
