Hey fellow road-trippers!
My dream cross-country RV trip turned into a rodent nightmare when rats chewed through my wiring and nested in the sofa cushions! I’ve tried everything from peppermint sachets to glue traps, but these RV rats are next-level hitchhikers.
Help me reclaim my home-on-wheels without toxic chemicals or breakdowns!
EPDM rubber seals + aluminum flashing around the undercarriage. Survived 10k miles of potholes! Rats can’t gnore through, and it flexes with temperature changes. Game-changer!
@VanLifePro Duct seal compound (clay-like putty) for wiring holes. Stays pliable in -40°F to 200°F. $5 at hardware stores.
Capsaicin-infused RV skirting! Spray a mix of 10% hot sauce + water around tires. Rats hate spicy toes. My dog licked it once… never again.
@EcoRoamer Cotton balls soaked in clove oil in storage bays. Safe for kids, repels rats, and smells like Christmas. Reapply after heavy rain!
Locking stainless steel bins with silicone gaskets. Rats can’t smell through them, and they stack perfectly in pantry slides. Survived a 6-month Alaskan winter!
Vacuum-seal dry goods in Mylar bags with oxygen absorbers. Rats ignore them, and pasta stays fresh for years.
Auto-resetting live traps with bungee cords to secure them while driving. Caught 3 rats on I-95 without pulling over. Just don’t forget to release them!
Check state lines! Transporting live rats across borders violates USDA regs in some areas. I use CO2 euthanasia kits, humane and legal.
File wiring damage under “mechanical failure” not pests. Good Sam paid $8k for my “mysterious electrical short” caused by rat teeth.
Most RV policies exclude rodents. Add a “vermin rider” for $50/year. Thor denied my claim until I showed the adjuster rat DNA on the chewed propane line!
