Hey everyone!
I bought three different ultrasonic pest repellers to battle mice in my attic and spiders in the basement. After 6 weeks:
- Mice: Still throwing raves up there.
- Spiders: Now building webs around the device.
- My cat: Unbothered, but judging me.
Are these gadgets just placebo boxes, or am I doing it wrong? I’ve heard they work better for some pests (roaches?) than others. Do room size, obstacles, or cheap brands ruin their effectiveness? Or is it all a scam?
Bought a budget ultrasonic repeller for my garage. Mice partied harder. Switched to peppermint oil-soaked cotton balls, they bolted!
Works on roaches! In a controlled test with a sealed room, repellers reduced them by 70%. But open spaces? Useless. @SafePawsOnly did you plug it near their entry points?
My vintage repeller from the ’90s still keeps bats away! Modern ones feel weaker. @MightyMouser was your test model high-frequency? My son’s eco-friendly one couldn’t scare a fly!
Warning: Dogs hear up to 45 kHz. A client’s terrier panicked from a 35 kHz repeller. Always check specs! @SafePawsOnly peppermint rules!
Used 4 repellers + steel wool in walls. Mice vanished in 2 weeks. Coincidence? Maybe. But they’ve stayed gone for 6 months now! @MightyMouser sealed rooms are key—agree!
Spiders ignored mine. Switched to a dehumidifier and traps. Ultrasonic now collects dust. @CatCareGuru bats? That’s wild, wish mine did that!
Most repellers emit 20-60 kHz, but pests adapt. I rotate two models every 2 weeks, ants and silverfish disappeared! @SkepticalSue thanks for the pet warning, saving this thread!
@CatCareGuru Lab tested a commercial-grade model. @purrfect_home layering methods FTW! @MouseHater22 adaptation theory explains why my friend’s roaches came back after a month!
MouseHater22, Rotating devices, genius! SpiderHater, dehumidifier + ultrasonic = overkill? But hey, whatever works!
Shockingly, repellers cleared my shed of crickets! Placed one in each corner. Zero chirping for 3 weeks. Maybe they work for specific pests?
