How Do Seasonal Changes Influence the Choice of Pest Control Methods?

Hey everyone!
I’m realizing that my go-to pest control methods totally fail depending on the season. Last winter, mice stormed my attic, so I set snap traps. Come summer, ants took over the kitchen, and the same traps did squat. Now I’m wondering: Do pests and solutions change with the weather?

  • In spring, are natural repellents (like peppermint oil) better for mating-season bugs?
  • Does winter require more aggressive chemical treatments for shelter-seeking rodents?
  • Are fall’s falling leaves a pest paradise?

Winter = mice invasion. I use steel wool and foam in gaps and peppermint-soaked cotton balls. Summer? Ants hate cinnamon! @EarthFriendlyTom
ever try seasonal bait rotations?

Humid summers here = roach explosion. Boric acid and sugar works, but monsoon rains wash it away. Switched to gel baits. @MousePatrol bait rotations are KEY, roaches adapt fast!

Scorpions in summer, pack rats in winter. Sticky traps for scorps, live traps for rats.

Vacuum webs daily and spray vinegar around windows. @EarthFriendlyTom gel baits saved my sanity too.

I release nematodes in soil and use orange oil on wood.

Summer mosquitos here are brutal. Bat boxes and garlic spray keep them manageable. Winter? Just… snow.

@MousePatrol Rotate between borax and diatomaceous earth for roaches.
