Hey everyone!
I discovered mice nesting in my garage and decided to try ultrasonic pest repellers as a pet-safe alternative to traps. I purchased two top-rated devices. After weeks of humming noises, the mice seemed unbothered—until I repositioned the devices near their entry points. Activity dropped within 10 days, but I’m still unsure if it was the repellers or seasonal changes. Have these gadgets worked for you, or are they just placebo tech? Share your wins, fails, and tips!
Questions for Discussion:
- Which specific pests (mice, spiders, roaches, etc.) did ultrasonic repellers work—or fail—for?
- How long did it take to see results? Did pests return after unplugging?
- What brands/models do you swear by (or regret buying)?
- Are they safe for pets like dogs, cats, or birds?
- Would you recommend them for severe infestations, or only minor issues?
repellers cleared spiders from my basement in 3 weeks! But ants in the kitchen? Nope.
@IHeartMice Same here! Spiders hate them, but roaches DGAF. Did you try pairing them with peppermint oil?
repellers reduced fruit flies in my studio! Took 10 days, but no chemicals.
repellers + cinnamon = ant-free pantry! Took a month, but worth it.
@HomeHelperHank Cinnamon? Genius! I’ll try that. Did you use powder or oil?
My $20 repeller stressed out my cat! Unplugged it immediately.
Tried repellers for dorm bed bugs. BIG MISTAKE. They spread everywhere!
Never use these for bed bugs! Heat treatment is the only fix. Call a pro ASAP.
Repellers messed with my honeybees’ navigation! Unplugged and switched to mesh screens.
repellers kept raccoons off my porch! But they still raid my trash cans.
I tried ultrasonic repellers for mice in my attic, saw zero difference after 4 weeks. Ended up needing traditional traps to solve the problem.
@PestFreePat Same experience here! The mice just seemed to get used to the noise after a while. Had to switch to steel wool and peppermint oil.
Ultrasonic waves don’t penetrate walls well. They might work in open spaces but won’t help if pests are nesting inside walls.
Has anyone tested these around birds? I’m worried about harming my parrots but need a solution for occasional mice.
@PetLoverSarah Most manufacturers claim they’re bird-safe, but I’d keep them away from avian pets just to be cautious. The high frequencies might stress them.
Complete waste of money for roaches in my apartment. They just walked right past the devices like they weren’t even there.
For minor spider issues they helped, but anything more serious needs proper pest control. They’re more of a preventative than a solution.
