Ghost ants: why are they impossible to kill?

Hey everyone,

I’m pretty sure what I’m dealing with are ghost ants. They’re tiny, almost translucent, and they seem to appear out of nowhere. I’ll clean an area, think they’re gone, and then a few days later there’s another trail somewhere else in the house.

I’ve tried a couple sprays and basic ant baits, but it feels like they just move and start a new trail. From what I’ve read, ghost ants can have multiple nesting spots, which might explain why they’re so hard to eliminate completely.

For anyone who’s dealt with them before, what actually worked? Did you focus more on baiting, sealing entry points, or something else?

Ghost ants are frustrating because they can split into multiple colonies.

Yeah that’s why sprays sometimes make the situation worse.

@ConnorReid I noticed that too. After spraying, they just showed up somewhere else.

Liquid baits worked better for me than gels.

Finding where they’re entering from helps a lot.

Mine were coming from a gap under the sink cabinet.

@NoraLane That’s a really common spot actually.

Consistency is important. It took me a couple weeks before I saw a real drop in numbers.

Also check bathrooms. They seem to like humid areas.

Once I used bait and sealed a few entry points, they finally started disappearing.
