I’ve been struggling with rats in my basement and heard peppermint oil is a miracle solution. I soaked cotton balls in peppermint oil and tossed them into corners, but the rats are STILL partying down there! Has peppermint actually worked for anyone?
Peppermint oil worked in my shed! I use a spray (10 drops oil + 1 cup water) and reapply weekly. are you using 100% pure oil? Diluted stuff won’t cut it!
Same! But rats came back after rain washed it away. add a few drops of dish soap, it makes the spray stick longer!
Peppermint’s menthol irritates their noses, but it’s temporary. pair it with steel wool in holes. Rats hate chewing through metal!
Tried peppermint sachets… rats used them as confetti. @UrbanGardener, how often do YOU spray?
A 2021 study showed peppermint reduces rat activity by 40%, but only for 3 days. combine with ultrasonic devices for longer results!
