Does Light Attract Fleas?

I’ve read different things about how light affects flea behavior. Does anyone here know if light really attracts fleas or is it just a myth?

My grandma always said that leaving a light on at night will bring the fleas. I think it makes sense since I’ve seen bugs fly towards my porch light many times.

It’s not just old wives’ tales. Fleas, like many insects, are attracted to light sources. It’s called phototaxis. Some say they use light to navigate and find food sources.

Actually, fleas are not always attracted to light like moths are. They rely more on the warmth and CO2 signals from a potential host than the light itself. That’s why they’re such a nuisance to pets and humans.
