Hey everyone,
I’ve been seeing a lot of posts and videos online about something called “Chinese chalk” that supposedly kills ants, roaches, and other insects. Some people say it works amazingly well, while others claim it’s basically useless or even risky to use indoors.
I’ve never tried it myself, but I’m dealing with a small ant problem in my kitchen and I’m curious if it’s actually effective or just internet hype. Also not sure if it’s even safe around pets or if there are better alternatives these days.
Has anyone here actually used it before? Did it work for you, or would you recommend something else instead?
I remember that stuff being popular years ago. From what I heard, a lot of versions were banned in some places because of the chemicals used.
Honestly there are safer options now. Bait stations usually work better for ants in my experience.
I tried it once a long time ago and it did kill ants where I drew the line, but it wasn’t a long-term solution.
If you have pets I would definitely be cautious. Some of those products weren’t exactly regulated.
@TrapMaster2020 Same here. It worked temporarily but the ants just found another path into the kitchen.
Most pest control pros I know recommend bait instead of barrier chalks now.
Yeah the bigger issue is you don’t always know what’s actually in the chalk depending on where it came from.
@SafetyFirstSteve That’s what I’ve heard too. Some imported versions had pesticides that aren’t approved anymore.
If it’s ants, bait + sealing entry points usually solves the problem better than quick fixes.
I’d skip it and go with modern pest control products. They’re more predictable and safer overall.
