Hey all,
I keep seeing people online swear by the baking soda and sugar combo for ants. Some say it wipes them out, others say it does absolutely nothing.
Before I start sprinkling random powders around my kitchen, I wanted to ask — has anyone actually seen real results with this, or is it one of those DIY tips that sounds good but doesn’t hold up in real life?
I’ve tried it once and honestly couldn’t tell if it made any difference.
It feels like one of those things that might work in theory but not so much in practice.
I saw ants go for the sugar part, but they kept coming back days later.
Same here. Maybe it slows them down, but I wouldn’t call it a solution.
@OldApartmentFixes That was my experience too — activity dipped, then bounced right back.
@BugDebate Yeah, that’s what I’m worried about. Temporary relief at best.
I think people like it because it sounds simple and harmless, not because it’s reliable.
If ants already have a solid trail going, these mixes don’t seem to stop them for long.
I’ve noticed different ant types react differently, so results are all over the place.
Most DIY tricks feel like experiments — sometimes they help a little, sometimes not at all.
