Urban dwellers, unite!
I’ve been battling mice in my 5th-floor NYC apartment for months. After swearing off traps (my dog thinks they’re toys), I caved and bought a $40 ultrasonic repeller. The first week? Silence. Week two? Mouse droppings ON the device. Some say they’re scams; others swear they work.
What’s your take? Have ultrasonic repellers saved your sanity or just your wallet?
Total waste of money. Bought two “top-rated” repellers—mice partied harder. Switched to steel wool + caulk. Only thing that worked!
@BugByte They work IF you use high-frequency models (25-65 kHz). Mice hate it, but pets might hear it. My dog whined for days.
Mixed results! Repellers kept mice out of the kitchen but not the bathroom. Added peppermint-soaked cotton balls, now rodent-free!
Ultrasonic + humane traps = magic. Mice avoid the sound, run into traps. Release them 2 miles away.
Mine worked for a month… then they came back like they’d built immunity. Do these things even emit sound? Took one apart, looked fake.
Careful with cheap brands! My cat started hiding, and the repeller had zero effect on mice. Stick to natural deterrents if you have pets.
Place repellers near entry points (vents, pipes), NOT behind furniture. Mice are smart—they’ll find the silent zones.
Studies say ultrasonic waves don’t penetrate walls. In studios? Maybe. In 2-bedrooms? Forget it.
@IHeartMice Agree! I moved mine to the hallway and kitchen corners. Works better now but still not 100%.
@EcoWarrior Cheap units often fake it. Use a decibel meter app to check if yours actually emits sound. Mine was a dud too!
