Hey everyone!
I’ve been dealing with a gopher problem in my garden and recently came across ultrasonic gopher repellers. I’ve read mixed reviews online, and I’m curious if anyone here has tried them.
From what I understand, these devices emit high-frequency sounds that are supposed to deter gophers without harming them. However, I’ve seen some comments claiming they don’t work at all, while others swear by them.
I haven’t personally used them, but I’ve heard that they might work better in open areas. It seems like they could be more effective if there’s not much surrounding noise. Has anyone tried using them in a garden setting?
I invested in one last summer. I didn’t see immediate results, but after a few weeks, the gophers seemed to have diminished. It could be a coincidence, but I’m not complaining! I think it’s worth a shot if you’re looking for a non-lethal option.
That’s interesting! How long did you have it running before you noticed a difference?
Also, did you notice any impact on other wildlife in your garden?
Ultrasonic devices have been a hot topic in pest control. From my experience, they can work temporarily, but gophers might eventually get used to the sound. For long-term solutions, I’d recommend something like trapping or natural predators like owls.
That makes sense! I guess it’s about finding the right balance. I don’t want to harm them, but I also want my garden intact.
What about using natural repellents? Have you tried those?
I’ve used castor oil as a natural repellent and it worked wonders! I applied it around the affected areas, and the gophers seemed to disappear fairly quickly.
That’s a great tip! I’ve heard that gophers are sensitive to smell, so anything strong can be effective.
I’m all for eco-friendly methods! I’ve also read that planting certain plants, like daffodils, can help deter gophers. They hate the smell!
Good to know! I love daffodils, so that’s an easy win for me!
Thanks for all the input, everyone! It sounds like ultrasonic repellers could be an option, but I might try some natural methods first.
Definitely keep us updated on what you decide to try!
