I’ve been curious about turkey diets lately. Most people think of turkeys as primarily herbivores, munching on seeds, nuts, and plants. However, I’ve heard some interesting claims that turkeys might also snack on small animals like mice. I want to dig deeper into this topic!
Turkeys are omnivores, which means their diet can include both plant and animal matter. While it’s true that they usually prefer seeds and berries, they may also consume insects, worms, and even small rodents when the opportunity arises. This leads me to a couple of questions:
Have you ever seen turkeys eat anything other than plants?
What do you think are the implications of turkeys being omnivores in their natural habitats?
Are there specific turkey species that are more likely to eat small animals?
Great topic, DryDogDude! I live in a rural area, and I’ve often seen wild turkeys foraging around. They seem to peck at almost anything that moves! I wouldn’t be surprised if they went after small animals.
