Do springtails have wings

Finally spring, and seeing lots of springtails around my plants. Just curious, do these little guys have wings?

Nope, springtails are wingless! Their name actually comes from a tail-like appendage called a furcula, which they use to jump around.

That’s right, I’ve read that they’ve adapted to their environment in other ways since they don’t have wings.

True. Springtails have a unique moisture-loving cuticle which helps them thrive in soil environments without needing wings.

Wings or not, they are still important for the ecosystem as they help in decomposing organic material in soil.
