Do LED Bug Zappers Save Energy While Targeting Gnats?

Hey everyone!

I’m drowning in gnats after switching to an LED bug zapper to cut my energy bill. The ads promised “eco-friendly pest control,” but here’s the reality:

  • Energy Savings: YES! My electricity bill dropped $15/month.
  • Gnat Control: NO! They swarm around the zapper, treating it like a nightclub. Now my BBQ parties are “gnat buffet” events.

LED zappers save energy but suck for gnats! They love warmth + moisture, add a CO2 lure nearby.

Gnats ignore UV, they track CO2 from your breath! I use yellow sticky traps + a fan to blow them away.

Solar zappers = gnat magnets in daytime, useless at night. Switched to rosemary oil diffusers, gnats hate the smell! @BugWhisperer, fans work but blow my napkins away.

Hacked my zapper with 395nm LEDs, fried 3 circuits but finally zapped a gnat!

LED zapper’s ticking noise scares my cat! Using vanilla extract on patio lights, gnats avoid sweet smells.

Zappers killed my honeybees! Now I use mosquito netting over seating areas.

@BeeProtector, netting is my last resort too.

@BeeProtector, my zapper now has a ‘bee guard’ mesh—DIY hack!

@DIYDad, maybe stick to pre-built 365nm zappers? Less fire risk.

@BeeProtector Added mesh to my zapper, bees live, gnats die (sometimes).
