Hey everyone!
I’m honestly exhausted at this point. I’ve been dealing with clothing moths on and off for years, and no matter what I do, they always seem to come back.
I’ve washed clothes, used traps, vacuumed closets, and even avoided storing wool and sweaters together, but somehow I’ll still find holes months later. Sometimes I don’t even see the moths—just the damage.
Has anyone actually managed to get rid of clothing moths long term? I’m starting to feel like this is something I’ll never fully solve.
Clothing moths are tricky because the damage comes from larvae, not the adult moths you see flying around.
Same situation here. I didn’t realize how many places larvae can hide—closets, drawers, even carpet edges.
One thing that helped me was doing a full reset—everything out of the closet, deep clean, then sealed storage only.
@DIYDude56 That sounds intense, but honestly might be what I need at this point.
Traps are useful for monitoring, but they won’t solve the problem by themselves. I learned that the hard way.
If the problem keeps returning, it usually means eggs or larvae are surviving somewhere unnoticed.
@ClosetChaos Are you in an apartment? I had moths coming from a shared storage area without realizing it.
Seasonal changes matter too. I noticed flare-ups when I switched wardrobes in spring and fall.
@RenterLife Yes, apartment living here. I never even thought about shared spaces being the source.
Long-term control is possible, but it’s about breaking the cycle completely—cleaning, proper storage, and ongoing monitoring.
