Can dogs hear ultrasonic mouse repellent?

Has anyone used ultrasonic mouse repellents around dogs? I’m worried my pooch might get bothered by the high frequency sounds.

In theory, dogs can hear sounds at much higher frequencies than us humans. So, I’d say it’s likely they could be sensitive to ultrasonic pest repellents.

Actually, it’s not just a theory. Dogs have a wider hearing range than us. The ultrasonic devices emit sounds usually above 20kHz, which dogs can absolutely hear.

That makes sense. I noticed my dog gets agitated when I plug in the repellent. She doesn’t settle until I turn it off. Poor thing!

It’s important to note that while dogs can hear the ultrasonic noises, not all devices are created equal. Some may be more disturbing than others.

How can you tell if the device is dog-friendly then?

The best way is to monitor your dog’s behavior when it’s turned on. Any signs of distress mean the frequency is likely too high for your dog’s comfort.
