Black carpet beetles in the bedroom

Hey everyone!

I’m hoping someone here has dealt with this before. Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been finding small black carpet beetles in my bedroom—mostly near the baseboards and occasionally on the bed frame.

I keep the room fairly clean, so this is stressing me out a bit. I’m not sure if they’re coming from clothing, carpet, or somewhere else entirely. Has anyone successfully gotten rid of carpet beetles in a bedroom setting? Any advice would be appreciated.

Carpet beetles love natural fibers. Check closets, wool items, and even stored blankets first.

I had them once and the source turned out to be an old rug under the bed that I forgot about.

Vacuuming daily for a week helped a lot for me, especially edges and under furniture.

@ThreadStarter_Lena Make sure to inspect clothes you don’t wear often—jackets, scarves, winter stuff.

They don’t mean your house is dirty. Older homes especially tend to get them seasonally.

Freezing infested items worked better for me than spraying chemicals indoors.

@VacuumWins Did you throw away the vacuum bag after each time? That made a big difference in my case.

Sealing gaps along baseboards reduced sightings over time. Not instant, but effective.

I kept finding larvae in a drawer I never open. Once I cleaned that out, numbers dropped fast.

If you keep seeing adults, there’s likely still a food source somewhere nearby—keep hunting for it.
