Hey everyone,
I’ve been finding these tiny hard shell-like things all over parts of my bedroom — near the baseboards, under the bed, and even in the corners of the closet. After digging around online, I’m pretty sure they’re from black carpet beetles.
I don’t see a ton of live bugs, but the shells keep showing up which makes me think there’s more going on than I can see. I vacuumed and cleaned, but they’re still appearing.
Has anyone dealt with this before? Does finding shells mean the infestation is active, or could it be leftover from before? And what actually works to get rid of them for good?
Those shells are usually shed skins, which means larvae have been active.
Yeah, if you’re seeing a lot of them, there’s probably still a source somewhere.
Check under the bed and inside closets. That’s where I found mine.
@FixItFrank Same here. I barely saw the bugs but tons of shells.
They like natural fibers, so check clothes, rugs, and stored fabrics.
Vacuuming helps, but you have to keep doing it consistently.
Also check behind furniture that doesn’t get moved often.
@EcoFriendlyFrank Good point. Mine were in an old wool blanket.
If you don’t remove the source, the cycle just keeps going.
@DIYDude56 I had to vacuum daily for a while before it got under control.
