Hi all,
I’m trying to get a realistic idea of what carpenter ant removal usually costs. I’ve noticed ants near wooden window frames and a few damp spots, and I’m starting to worry this is more than a surface issue.
I’ve seen wildly different price ranges online, so I’m hoping to hear real experiences. What did you pay, and what factors seemed to affect the final cost?
Prices vary a lot depending on whether they’re nesting inside or just foraging.
I paid more than I expected, mostly because they had to track the nest, not just treat the ants you see.
@OldHouseOwner was moisture damage part of the issue for you?
Location matters too. Attics and wall voids usually cost more to deal with.
In my case, the initial inspection was cheap, but follow-up work added up fast.
I learned that carpenter ants aren’t about killing numbers, it’s about finding where they’re chewing.
@BudgetFixer Totally agree. Surface treatments looked cheaper but didn’t last.
Most quotes I got were mid-to-high hundreds, but complex cases went higher.
Reducing moisture ended up being just as important as the treatment itself.
The cheapest option isn’t always cheaper in the long run if they come back.
