Anyone know how to get rid of earwigs?

Hi folks,
I’ve been noticing earwigs showing up around my patio and occasionally inside the house, mostly at night. I don’t leave food out and things are generally clean, so I’m not sure what’s attracting them.

They seem to love damp areas and cracks near doors. I’m curious what’s actually worked for others — especially longer-term solutions, not just quick fixes.

Earwigs are big on moisture. Once I reduced damp spots, the numbers dropped pretty fast.

I used to see tons near my foundation. Cleaning out leaf piles helped more than I expected.

They like hiding spots during the day. Check mulch, stacked pots, and anything resting on the ground.

@NightCrawler1 Did you just focus on drainage, or was it more about indoor humidity too?

For me it was mostly outdoor moisture. Fixing a leaky spigot made a noticeable difference.

I only ever see them after dark. During the day it’s like they completely disappear.

@BackyardFixer Same experience here — once I cleared debris near the walls, sightings dropped a lot.

Sealing gaps around doors and windows helped keep them from wandering inside.

They’re annoying, but usually a sign something outside is inviting them in.

It took a few weeks of changes before I noticed results, but consistency mattered.
