Ants All Over the Bathroom — Any Easy DIY Fixes?

Hey everyone,

I woke up this morning to a whole parade of ants marching across my bathroom floor… and up the wall… and around the sink. I don’t even keep food in there, so I’m confused about what they’re looking for.

Before I go buy half the pest aisle, I wanted to ask if anyone has tried any simple, DIY fixes that actually work. Do things like vinegar, baking soda, or dish soap sprays make a real difference? Or is baiting the only reliable option?

Appreciate any advice before these little guys take over entirely.

Ants love moisture, so bathrooms are prime real estate. Wipe up any water around the sink or tub and they sometimes disappear on their own.

I’ve had luck with a vinegar + dish soap mix. Doesn’t always kill them, but it destroys the scent trail so they stop coming back.

Honestly, bait works best. They take it back to the nest and wipe out the whole colony. Quick sprays only get the scouts.

Check behind your toilet. I once found a tiny gap in the caulking where ants were coming straight through the wall.

If you don’t like chemical smells, peppermint oil on cotton balls works surprisingly well. Ants hate the stuff.

@MintyFreshDIY Same here. I used peppermint and sealed the crack around the baseboard. Haven’t seen a single ant since.

Don’t forget to check under shampoo bottles or soap dishes. Any damp spot can become an ant pit stop.

@HomeFixHank I second the vinegar trick. I mop my bathroom weekly with a bit of vinegar and it stopped random ant visits completely.

If the ants are tiny and moving fast, they’re probably moisture ants. Fixing leaks is the only long-term solution.

I’d start with a bait station in the corner of the bathroom. Cheap, low effort, and usually clears up the problem in a couple of days.
