Why is my house suddenly overrun with flying bugs?

Hi everyone,

Over the past few days, I’ve noticed a sudden increase in flying bugs inside my house. It went from seeing the occasional one to now having multiple flying around, especially near lights and windows.

What’s confusing is that nothing obvious has changed — I haven’t left food out or anything like that. It just feels like they appeared overnight.

Has anyone experienced something like this before? What usually causes a sudden outbreak like this, and how do you actually get it under control?

Sudden spikes like that usually mean something is attracting or breeding them nearby.

Check drains, trash areas, or even hidden food sources.

Lights at night can definitely attract them once they’re inside.

@HomeShieldMax Yeah, there’s almost always a source somewhere you’re missing.

Could also be seasonal. Warmer weather brings more activity.

I had a similar issue and it turned out to be something in my kitchen drain.

@DeepCleanNora Drains are often overlooked but a big cause.

Windows and door gaps can let a lot in without you noticing.

Once they get inside, they tend to gather around light sources.

Finding the source is key, otherwise it keeps feeling like they’re “appearing out of nowhere.”
