What Finally Stopped Mice From Coming Back to Your House?

Hey everyone,

I feel like I’m stuck in an endless cycle with mice. Every time I think the problem is finally under control, a few weeks later I hear scratching again or find new droppings somewhere in the house.

I’ve already tried:

  • Basic snap traps
  • Sealing a few holes
  • Cleaning up food sources
  • Different bait types

Some things worked temporarily, but nothing seems to stop them from eventually returning.

So I wanted to ask people who actually managed to solve this long-term:

  • What finally made the biggest difference?
  • Was it more about traps, sealing entry points, or changing the environment?
  • Did you completely stop seeing mice afterward, or just reduce the problem?

Would love to hear real experiences because I’m honestly tired of repeating the same cycle.

For me the real turning point was sealing entry points, not the traps themselves.

Same here. Traps handled the current mice, but sealing stopped the new ones.

I also realized I was placing traps in the wrong spots at first.

@BaitLineBruce Wall edges worked way better than open areas in my house too.

Food storage made a huge difference for me. Once food sources disappeared, activity dropped fast.

I switched to multiple smaller trap stations instead of one big setup.

@EcoHomeHannah Did you ever check behind appliances? That’s where mine kept hiding.

Honestly it was a combination of sealing + consistent trapping over several weeks.

I kept getting reinfestations from the garage until I fixed the door gaps.

The biggest mistake I made was stopping too early after activity slowed down.
