Using live traps baited with carrot bits or peanut butter has worked when populations spike. Paired that with planting Jerusalem artichoke as an attractant trap border, vole highway diversions do exist!”

@LindaWild I feel you, strong teeth and unexpected damage can be heartbreaking. I always check for gnaw marks 1–2" wide, which is the tell-tale sign of vole — not rabbit or deer damage.

At the end of the day, layered defense, wire baskets, scented barriers, live traps, and clean mulch, is the best. Voles adapt fast, but so can we. Thanks everyone for the helpful tips!
