So fed up with these damn ants in my house… what finally worked for you?

Hi all,
I’m officially at my breaking point with ants. No matter how clean the place is, they keep showing up — kitchen counters, baseboards, even the bathroom sink sometimes. I’ve tried wiping trails, sealing food, and a few DIY tricks I found online, but nothing seems to last.

Before I go all-in on professional treatment, I wanted to hear from people who’ve actually beaten an ant problem for good.
What finally worked for you? Was it baiting, sealing entry points, natural remedies, or calling in pros?

Would really appreciate real-world experiences here.

Honestly, the biggest change for me was switching from sprays to slow-acting bait. Sprays just made them scatter.

I had ants for months until I tracked where they were coming in from outside. Sealed one tiny gap near a window frame and numbers dropped fast.

@CountertopChaos Same experience here. Once I stopped killing the visible ones and let them take bait back, it actually started working.

Cleaning alone never fixed it for me. It helped, but the colony was clearly somewhere deeper than I thought.

Living in an apartment makes this harder. I did everything right inside, but they kept coming through shared walls.

@RentalLifeBlues That’s the worst part — if neighbors don’t treat too, it feels endless.

One thing that helped was trimming plants touching the house. I didn’t realize how much that acted like a bridge.

I tried natural repellents at first, but they were more of a temporary annoyance than a solution.

@EntryPointHunter Good call. Exterior stuff matters way more than I expected.

For me it was a combo: bait + sealing entry points + patience. Took a couple weeks, but they’re gone now.
