How long does it really take to get rid of fleas?

Hi all,
Dealing with a flea issue for the first time and honestly feeling a bit overwhelmed. I keep seeing mixed answers online — some say days, others say weeks or even months.

I’m curious what’s realistic here. How long did it actually take before things felt truly under control for you? And what signs told you it was finally working?

In my case, the first week was the worst. After that, it slowly tapered off instead of stopping all at once.

People underestimate how long eggs can hang around. That’s usually why it feels like it’s “coming back.”

Totally normal. It’s more of a process than a flip-the-switch situation.

Once you stop seeing new bites, you’re on the right track, but that doesn’t mean you’re done yet.

For me it was about 3–4 weeks before I stopped thinking about it daily.

@FloorboardFacts Yeah, that’s exactly what worries me, feels like it’s never really gone.

@PetSideStories Same here. It wasn’t dramatic, just gradually fewer sightings.

The frustrating part is you don’t get instant confirmation that it’s working.

Consistency matters more than speed. Miss a step and it drags on longer.

Once things stay calm for a couple of weeks straight, that’s when I finally relaxed.
