Hi all,
Hoping someone here can help. I noticed a cluster of strange-looking bugs hanging around my front door this morning. They seem to be gathering near the frame and don’t really move much unless disturbed.
I’ve never seen these before, and I’m not sure if they’re harmless or something I should be concerned about. They’re small, dark, and kind of flat-looking. Has anyone dealt with something similar or have an idea what these might be?
Hard to say without a photo, but doors attract bugs because of heat and light differences.
I see similar bugs on my porch every spring. Usually gone in a few days.
@BugSpotter agreed. A lot of insects just rest on doors, especially lighter-colored ones.
If they’re flat and slow, could be some kind of beetle or seed bug.
Do you leave your porch light on at night? That can pull all kinds of bugs to the door.
@NightLightEffect Yeah, the light stays on overnight. Didn’t realize it mattered that much.
Totally normal this time of year. I wouldn’t worry unless they start coming inside.
Most of these outdoor bugs don’t survive indoors anyway.
Check for tiny gaps around the door frame just in case.
Looks like one of those “temporary visitors” bugs, annoying but usually harmless.
