Do ultrasonic pest repellers work on squirrels?

Same here, TechTom. They might work on smaller pests, but squirrels are smart little critters.

I used them too, and while they seemed to work at first, the squirrels just came back after a few days. Seems like they get used to it.

Has anyone noticed if these repellers affect beneficial wildlife? I have a lot of birds and I don’t want to scare them off.

GreenThumbGal, I’ve been using them and haven’t noticed any fewer birds. They seem unbothered by the ultrasonic frequencies.

But are you sure they don’t get disturbed without you seeing it? Birds might be more sensitive than we think.

Possibly, SkepticalSam, but I keep a close watch on the feeders and haven’t seen any change in bird activity.

I’ve read any ultrasonic device has the potential to disturb other animals, not just pests. It might be better to try other methods if you love having birds around.

Curious if anyone found a brand that actually worked on squirrels. Maybe it’s just about finding the right one?

UrbanDweller47, I’m skeptical but would love to know if anyone found something effective. We’ve got squirrels all over the neighborhood.

I’m in the same boat. It’s like they’re immune to everything we try!

Exactly, CuriousCat. So if anyone has a successful story, please share!

I’ll keep an eye out. Maybe there’s a hidden gem we haven’t found yet.

My neighbor swears by critter sprays more than these ultrasonic devices. Have you tried that, UrbanDweller47?

I haven’t used ultrasonic repellers per se, but my cat seems to keep most of the squirrels away. Maybe live furry “repellers” are the way to go?

That’s definitely one approach, CatLadySue! Pet deterrents seem to work in many cases.

Not all pets have the same effect though. My dog is useless against squirrels—he’s best friends with them!

I tried a 30 kHz repeller in my attic, squirrels left for a week, then came back like it was nothing. Temporary fix at best!

My ultrasonic device at 40 kHz annoyed the squirrels raiding my feeder, they’ve stayed clear for a month now!

Set one up in the garage, squirrels bolted initially, but I think they got used to the sound after a couple weeks.

I’ve got a random-frequency repeller, keeps squirrels off my porch so far. Maybe the unpredictability throws them off!
