In my outdoor shed, the zapper barely hit fruit flies until I left fruit scraps nearby… lesson learned, cleanliness matters more than zap intensity.
I’ve replaced the regular bulb with a non-UV white light bulb, 100% less fruit fly traffic, but bugs don’t get zapped as well.
@ZapperTester That’s encouraging, thought I was the only one experimenting with LED. Definitely worth testing more widely around my kitchen.
Setting up a separate UV strip light away from food zones helped divert fruit flies, then they get zapped in one concentrated spot. Fairly effective trick.
For now, I just go old school: keep fruit in sealed containers and swat what I can, and use the zapper somewhere away from food. Keeps me sane!
