Different termite treatment opinions — how do you choose?

Hi folks,
I’m in the middle of dealing with a termite issue and feeling overwhelmed by the different treatment options being recommended. I’ve talked to a few companies and each one seems confident their method is the “best,” but they all say different things.

From liquid soil treatments to bait systems and even foam or spot treatments, it’s hard to know what actually works long term. I’m hoping to hear from people who’ve been through this already.

How did you decide which treatment to go with? Was it based on cost, effectiveness, or something else? And did it actually hold up over time?

I went with a liquid barrier because it made sense for my foundation type. No regrets so far.

Every company pushes what they sell. That was my biggest takeaway after getting multiple quotes.

Bait systems worked for us, but they took patience. It wasn’t an instant fix.

@SuburbanFix That’s helpful to know. How long before you noticed a real difference?

Age of the house matters a lot. Older homes sometimes need a combo approach.

Cost wasn’t my main factor. I cared more about warranty and follow-up inspections.

I initially thought about DIY treatments, but once I saw how extensive the damage could be, I backed out.

@DIYorNot Same here. Termites aren’t something I’d experiment with.

If you’re environmentally conscious, some bait systems use less chemical overall. That swayed my decision.

@BrickAndBeam Appreciate that insight. Sounds like matching the treatment to the structure is key.
