Can bug zapper be left in the rain?

Look for IP65-rated models if you need true waterproofing. My zapper survived a tropical storm last summer, still zapping strong!

Has anyone tried those new ‘waterproof’ models with silicone seals? Wondering if they’re worth the extra $20 or just marketing hype.

@OutdoorEnthusiast11 How’s the zap power on those USB models? My electric one fries bugs instantly but I need something for rainy hikes.

I repurposed a clear plastic storage bin as a rain shield for my zapper. Cut holes for ventilation and zapping - works perfectly!

Never use extension cords with outdoor zappers in wet conditions! The shock risk isn’t worth it.

After 3 zappers died in rain, I switched to a covered patio model with built-in gutter. 2 years and counting - best investment ever!

@NightFlyer3 How’s the solar zapper at night after cloudy days? I camp in rainy areas and worry about consistent power.

My grandson installed a smart outlet for my patio zapper. Now it automatically turns off when my weather app predicts rain - genius!

Zapper under the eaves plus citronella torches. The torches create a dry zone during summer showers!
