@UrbanGardener is right about placement! I use flour dusting to track their routes before setting traps. Increased my catch rate by 300%.

Surprisingly, the dollar store traps worked just as well as name brands for me. Just need to adjust the sensitivity yourself.

Warning about electric traps - keep away from kids/pets. My neighbor’s dog got zapped (was okay but scared us all. Now I only use enclosed snap traps.

One thing many homeowners overlook when comparing trap brands is the size of the rodent.

Standard mouse snap traps often struggle with larger rats, especially in garages or basements. In those cases, electric traps designed for stronger rodents tend to perform more consistently.

Some people in our community have mentioned using traps like the Thanos MK47 for larger rat problems because it provides a stronger kill mechanism and can be reused multiple times.

Placement along walls and near entry points still makes the biggest difference regardless of the trap type.

**Thanos Home note:** for anyone comparing snap, electric, and humane traps, the right choice usually depends on rodent size and placement.

- For small indoor mouse activity, a compact electric mouse trap can be easier to clean and reset than snap traps.
- For larger rats, garages, basements, sheds, or repeated activity, a heavier-duty trap is usually the safer comparison point.
- Bait and placement still matter: place traps along walls, behind appliances, near droppings, and avoid open-room placement.

**Thanos Home official note**

When comparing snap, electric, and live-catch traps, the best choice depends on the rodent size, placement, cleanup preference, and how often the problem returns. For indoor mouse activity, enclosed electric traps can offer a contained, reusable option; for larger rats or garages and basements, use equipment sized for rats and place it directly along travel paths. Whichever type you choose, correct placement and exclusion work matter as much as the trap itself.
