# Average cost to get rid of carpenter ants

Hey everyone,
I’ve been researching carpenter ant problems lately and noticed that prices for professional treatment vary a lot depending on the situation. From what I’ve seen, the cost usually depends on things like how big the infestation is, whether the nest is inside walls or outside, and how large the home is.
Many pest control companies seem to charge more for carpenter ants compared to other ant types because they can damage wood structures and require more thorough inspections and targeted treatment. In general, a typical treatment might fall somewhere in the mid-hundreds, though severe cases can go higher or involve multiple visits.
For homeowners who have dealt with carpenter ants before, what did you end up paying? Was it a one-time treatment or an ongoing plan?

When I looked into it last year, most quotes I saw were around $300–$500 for carpenter ants depending on the house size.

That sounds about right. Carpenter ants usually cost more than regular ant treatments because they hide in walls.

From what I’ve read online, carpenter ant treatments often fall roughly in the $250–$500 range for many homes, though it can be higher if the infestation is serious.

Mine was cheaper but it was mostly outside treatment around the house perimeter.

Costs can go up a lot if they’re nesting inside wood structures or damp areas.

I also got quotes that ranged widely. One company tried to sell an annual plan instead of a one-time treatment.

In many cases the inspection and finding the nest seems to be the part that affects the price the most.
