In some people, bites can spark a stronger allergic response—hives, swelling, longer healing time. If you’re reacting more severely, it’s worth treating seriously.
@SkinSenseSue Good point. I kept thinking it was fleas until I realized the bites appeared only after I’d been in the bedroom, turned out it was mattress seams and dark crevices.
Remember: Sometimes bites are mis-attributed. Dryer heat rash, fabric irritations, even mites or chiggers can mimic fleas. If nothing shows up in your inspection of pets, widen your search.
If you suspect fleas: treat pets, vacuum carpets, clean bedding and monitor for another week. If bites continue, consider other pests or call a pro, don’t assume it’s always fleas.
